History

Rev. Ken Lackey loves serving his community and everyone around him. Lackey had built hundreds of Tiny Homes under Lackey Specialty Builders. In 1987, he started building Tiny Homes. He used to build 5 Tiny Homes a week and place them in people’s backyards and they became his client’s specialty rooms with bathrooms. He has been using his construction company to build Tiny Homes all over California.

One day, his ministry partner; Pastor Bea Williams saw the growing women with children who were homeless and asked Rev. Ken Lackey "can you build one for the women and children that were homeless." Indeed, he started building tiny homes to help house homeless women and children. Now, it grew to Community Park and that is why we are calling our new project: Tiny Homes Community Park For Everyone. He is still doing ministry, construction, and feeding the homeless and low-income community on his outdoor feeding ministry called "Table of Abundance." Every day he continues his calling and desires to help homeless, elders, widows, formerly incarcerated, disabled, and low-income individuals or families with their food, construction, employment, or housing needs, as the Lord provides everyone's needs through him.

We need the help to help!

Here are the basic needs we are budgeting for our Tiny Homes project:

  • Wood for interior & exterior siding, plus the roof
  • Insulation
  • Weather protectant (such as house wrap and rain & ice shield)
  • Hardware (nails, screws, nuts, bolts, etc.)
  • Reinforcements (such as hurricane straps and nail plates)
  • Materials for doors and windows
  • Electrical wiring, breakers, outlets, and switches
  • Plumbing for the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom
  • Flooring and painting
  • Tools (such as hammers, saws, drills, levels, etc.)

And this is just for the frame of the Tiny Homes– it doesn’t account for cabinetry, built-ins, outdoor space, sinks, or countertops. Each modification indoors – such as a loft or stairs – will require more materials, so make sure you’re very familiar with the floorplan you’ve decided on.
